From days of long ago comes a legend, the legend of Voltron, defender of the universe. Evil forces threaten to take over the universe, and Voltron is needed once more. Five space explorers set out to find and recover the legendary Voltron (and succeed within the first couple of episodes). After that, it was a weekly event for King Zarkon to send a horrible Robeast (robotic monster, so it was okay to cut it up on 80's television, like the robotic footsoldiers on Ninja Turtles) to try and take over, while the five main characters jump into their incredible giant robotic lions, then merge them together to form Voltron. Voltron was a heavily edited version of two Japanese anime. Beast King GoLion - The year is 1999. The planet Altea has been taken over by the evil Galra Empire. Five young space pilots return to Earth to discover it has been devastated by a nuclear war. The pilots are captured and enslaved in Emperor Dai Bazaal's arena, where they are forced to fight for their lives. They escape and land on Altea, where they learn about GoLion Dairugger XV - The Rugger Team is an exploration, planetary survey, and defensive force. Planet Earth is in a time of prosperity. The president of the Terran League launches a mission to explore the galaxy and build a complete map of the stars. Soon after commencing the mission, the Rugger Team and their starship, the Rugger Guard, are attacked by the Galveston Empire. Dairugger, the super robot, must defend the Rugger Guard and its fleet as they attempt to continue their mission. When Galveston repeatedly refuses to accept peaceful coexistence, their mission turns to finding the Galveston homeworld, liberating its people from their despotic Emperor, and helping them find a new planet before their world collapses.
