Based on Shotaro Ishinomori's popular sci-fi manga, The Cyborg Soldier is a modern retelling of the original manga with more action and serious themes. It was produced by Japan Vistec instead of Toei Animation and originally aired on TV Tokyo from October 14, 2001 to October 13, 2002, lasting 51 episodes. The Cyborg Soldier received a North American release on Toonami and was dubbed by Animaze, Inc. and ZRO Limit Productions but dropped the last nine epsisodes. It is currently licensed by Discotek Media.
