KCCI-TV in Des Moines presently broadcasts 29½ hours of locally produced newscasts each week (with 4½ hours each weekday, 3 hours on Saturdays and 4 hours on Sundays). On April 20, 2009, KCCI-TV became the first station in the Des Moines television market to broadcast local news in 16:9 widescreen. On April 26, 2011, KCCI-TV became the last major station in the Des Moines television market to upgrade its local newscasts in high definition beginning with the 5 p.m. weeknight newscast.
