Debt
Debut: June 03, 1996
Ended: August 14, 1998

Host Wink Martindale and the Announcer Julie Claire, this was a game show that put the usual quiz show idea on its head: players that showed up were all in debt! Whether it was from a car loan, student, loan, or mortgage, players competed on the show to earn enough money to pay off their debt. For Round One, the General Debt Round, contestants chose from a board of five categories with five questions each and had to answer a "What am I?" riddle. A correct answer subtracted debt and allowed the contestant to keep playing. In Round 2, Gambling Debt, a category was revealed, and the contestants bid back and forth as to how many of its five questions they could answer correctly. Bidding continued until one contestant either reached the maximum of five or challenged the other to "Prove it!" The winner of that round would move to the Bonus Round. The Bonus Round was also played in two parts. In "Get Out of Debt", the player had to answer 10 questions correctly in 60 seconds. Then in "Bet Your Debt", the contestant is given the option to answer a pop culture trivia question to double their winnings, or lose it all.
