WWMT-TV in Kalamazoo-Grand Rapids-Battle Creek presently broadcasts 34½ hours of locally produced newscasts each week (with 5½ hours each weekday and 3½ hours each on Saturdays and Sundays). In 1989, WWMT debut its new weekday morning newscast, with Judy Markee as anchor, and Keith Washington (who joined the station that year) as weathercaster. In April 1997, Andy Dominianni first joined Channel 3 as weekday morning/noon anchor until he left in December 1999. On April 16, 2011, WWMT became the second television station in the Kalamazoo-Grand Rapids-Battle Creek market to begin broadcasting local newscasts in high definition (updated graphics were introduced along with the change). In July 2011, Andy Dominianni returned to the station, this time as a primary weeknight news anchor.
