The Dick Cavett Show refers to television programs which was hosted by Dick Cavett. It all started with its premiere edition on ABC in the daytime, back March 4, 1968, under its original title as "This Morning". On April 1, 1968, the program was renamed as "The Dick Cavett Show". The show had its final daytime show on January 24, 1969. On May 26, 1969, the show returned, this time as a summer primetime program until the late summer primetime episode on September 19, 1969. On December 29, 1969, the show returned on ABC, this time as a late-night television program, it would run for 6 seasons until its final late-night episode on ABC on January 1, 1975 (New Year's Day 1975). The show returned for the summer season in 1975, this time on CBS, in primetime which began with he first show on August 16, 1975 until September 6, 1975. Also on that date, the show returned, this time as a special series program during the week of September 6, 1975 on Thames Television in London and WOR-TV in New York, with Cavett hosting in London and co-host by British broadcaster Eamonn Andrews in New York. On October 10, 1977, the show was reborn, this time on PBS, which Cavett as the host again, this time from the WNET-TV studio in New York. The show would air 5 seasons on PBS until its finale on April 2, 1982. On September 30, 1985, the show returned to television, this time on USA Network, which marked the first time on cable television, for just one season until its final episode on March 24, 1986. On September 23, 1986, the show returned to air, this time on ABC late night on Late Tuesday and Late Wednesday Nights only until its final on December 30, 1986. On April 17, 1989, the show was reborn this time on the cable network CNBC, on the day that cable network was launched, and it would run until its final ever show on January 27, 1996, ending a 25-year run.
