The Spirit of Mickey

As Walt Disney said, "It was all started by a Mouse", this feature-length compilation video special celebrates 70 years of America's favorite imaginary mouse, Mickey. Featuring his first Technicolor short "The Band Concert", "Thru the Mirror", the Oscar®-winning "Lend a Paw", "Orphans' Picnic" - the first short with the redesign look of Donald Duck, "The Worm Turns", "Mickey's Surprise Party" - originally produced for Nabisco, the Oscar®-nominated "Mickey and the Seal", "Mickey's Trailer", "Mr. Mouse Takes a Trip" - Pete's last antagonist role, and the first sound cartoon "Steamboat Willie". The framing devices are centered on Mickey Mouse and his friends hosting an event at which they present some of Mickey's greatest cartoons to an audience of orphans, using archival footage from The Mickey Mouse Club, Disney's Wonderful World of Color, A Goofy Movie, and various Mickey Mouse and Donald Duck shorts. None of the shorts were shown with their original title cards, instead, the titles were shown on the corner of the screen, disappearing after a few seconds, with an exception for the final short, Steamboat Willie. Produced by Harry Arends and Phil Savenick. Original Music by Andrew Belling, featuring the original song "Hey Mickey". Edited by Darryl Harris and Robert P. Schneider. A Buena Vista Home Entertainment production, with TV is OK Productions. It was the result of the many past creative people who had worked at the Walt Disney Studios.
