It's Christmas Eve and Elmo plans to stay up to see Santa come down his chimney. Elmo gets awakened in the middle of the night by Santa who winds up stuck in the chimney. Elmo pulls him out where they discover the extra source of weight that trapped Santa-a stowaway reindeer named Lightning who hid in Santa's bag. For saving him, Santa offers Elmo a choice of a gift, where Elmo chooses a magic snow globe, which grants its owner three wishes. Seeing the joy and happiness on Christmas Day, Elmo wishes for Christmas to be every day. He soon runs into Santa who explains how Christmas every day won't be a good idea, and teams him up with Lightning to travel in time through the next year and see the effects of his wish in spring, summer, and again next Christmas. with special guest stars - our narrator Maya Angelou, Charles Durning, Harvey Fierstein, and 14 Karat Soul; and starring Jim Henson's 'Sesame Street Muppets - featuring puppet captain Kevin Clash as "Elmo", and Caroll Spinney as "Big Bird" and "Oscar"⋯ let's not forget a cameo from Steve Whittmire as "Kermit the Frog" for the news report.
