Angela de Marco (Michelle Pfeiffer) is a mob wife on Long Island who wants to break free of that life. When her mobster husband "Cucumber" Frank de Marco (Alec Baldwin) is murdered, she sees an opportunity to get out of it. Moving into the city, she has to deal with minimum-wage jobs, a poor apartment and being the subject of a romantic tug-of-war between federal agent Mike Downey (Matthe Modine) and mafia kingpin Tony "The Tiger" Russo (Dean Stockwell).
