Since the 20GB version of the PlayStation 3 games console does not have internal memory card readers, can I use a multi format memory card to USB adaptor like this?

I currently DO NOT have ANY PlayStation 3 consoles of ANY variety, I am just asking this for future reference.

Sony has stopped selling the 20 GB version. You options are the 60 GB for 500 and the 80GB for 600. They dropped the price on the 60 GB one and next month, I think, is when the 80 GB one comes out. Apparently they may stop selling the 60 GB one as well.

ya, they stopped shipping them due to a higher demand for 60 gigs...and since the 60 gigs is pretty much the price of the 20 gigs now, you shouldn't worry about that, unless you got a friend of some sort that has it or if your getting one for free or something of the like...

      other than that, I dunno...

Well I think a 20 GB can be found used now for about $350. Anyway, I have a 20 GB PS3 but I don't know if that type of adaptor would work. I just went the safe way and spent some left over store credit at Babbages on Sony's memory card adaptor.

          Here's the scoop:
          20gb PS2...discontinued
60gb PS2..priced to $500 but thats because they've discontinued production

          New option:
          Buying the 80gb PS3, that comes with motorstorm...for $600

          The catch:
They're taking out the PS2 empotion chipset...therefore making the PS3 only semi-compatible with SOME PS2 games and SOME PS1 games (like the xbox 360, they'll have downloadable compatability updates here and there). THAT'S what they're not telling the general public now. I work at a Game Crazy Store and this is what we have been told by our coporate office as well as our Sony representative that comes in every 2-3 months.

So if you want a PS3, don't care about 20 extra gb or motorstorm, and want to be able to play 99% of the PS2 and PS1 games (i say 99% cuz, like PS2, there's a few games from the previous system that dont work completely or at all; example: Mortal Kombat Trilogy for PS1 on a PS2; when you win, you cannot see endings or anything because it simply freezes, but 2 player Vs works fine).

If you can find a 20gb PS3, you can get it for 400.00 brand new. And yes, you can use any kind of jump drive to save files, videos etc.
