I can barely remember this cartoon I remember seeing as a kid. It looked like some Japanese cartoon that had been brought over to the States, but I can't be sure. Anyway, the main character in the show would get into some altercation with the bad guys and he would end summoning this Voltron-like robot from a big pool in the back of his headquarters. The thing would rise up out of the water and I believe it had some sort of sword, but again I can't be sure. There was also a female version of the robot that these spinning cone shaped boobs that would fly off like missles. For the bad guys, I remember one in particular was this guy in a green suit who was headless and would walk around holding his head. Does anyone have a clue as to what I'm babbling about? I'm just really curious as to what cartoon that was. Thanks in advance for any help you may be able to offer.

Hey, thanks for the reply! You've got a great memory. I can't believe someone out there actually knows what I'm talking about. :)

In Robot Chicken they have a sketch called "Enter the Fat One" that apes the whole concept.

Usually the weapon itself was called "Breast Fire."

            Here's the low-down on Mazinger Z...

I remember my pen pal (now best friend) Hiro telling me about Mazinger Z. He even sent me some tapes with episodes. It sucks why they shorten Tranzor Z to 65 episodes instead of 92.

It was rather an American standard in syndication circles to have 65 episodes. Still, it was a lot better than when a guy name Jim Terry thought he could compress five unrelated Toei giant robot shows into a syndication package called "Force Five", each show had only 26 episodes each that were seen once a week for a weekday broadcast. Being an anime fan in the 80's was really TOUGH when the stuff that even made it often was usually still marketed as "kiddie fare", often resorting to those die-hards having to work through grey market means to obtain raw Japanese copies from friends or spending hundreds of dollars of VHS tapes or LD's for many films that came out in Japan. Much of those days were explained in the audio commentary track for the ADV Films' DVD release of "Megazone 23 pt. 1".
