I'm looking for as many movies like this as possible. The plot almost always goes like this: A group of ragtag kids from the neighborhood embark on an epic adventure. The bad guys are always adults or something supernatural and the kids' parents are always portrayed as dumb or naive. (ie: not believing the kids about what is going on). The kids in these movies usually swear or use insulting words like "faggot". These are usually "feel-good" movies and are nostalgic even for a first time viewing because of the setting. Movies I've seen like this include E.T, 3 Ninjas, The Goonies, Monster Squad.

Stand By Me is a good example.

Edit: It isn't really a kids' adventure movie, but it does involve kids going on an adventure.

Russkies and The Gate come to mind.

The Goonies is like that. And it's not an 80s or 90s movie, but Super 8 has this same sort of plot to it. It reminded me a awful lot of Goonies and E.T.
