Who remembers the Minute Maid carbonated soft drinks, which Coca-Cola had introduced to extend their Minute Maid fare in 1985 (this was also the year of their infamous "New Coke")?

The original flavors included the trademark Minute Maid orange, and lemon-lime (the latter already having been a success because of Coke's other brand, Sprite). Both regular and diet versions of the sodas were available.

In 2005, Coke finally decided to discontinue the Orange and Strawberry flavors in favor of Fanta Orange.

The original formula called for 10 percent of juices, but by 1988 that was reduced to just 2 percent, Coke admitting to the press people were more concerned over taste than juice content. Surely there could've been another wave of complaints a la New Coke!

If I'm drinking a soda pop You bet I care more about the taste than the juice content. If I want juice content than I'll drink juice.

I also wonder if certain sodas like this were sent to the soft drink graveyard due to an oversaturation of the market and that people were getting confused because of this oversaturation? Oversaturation can mean decline in sales, too.

That's gotta be part of it, you gain sales of Munite-Maid at the expense of Fanta and Fanta's been around a lot longer. I'm one of the people that expected great taste from a soda called Munite-Maid. To me it tasted just like any other orange soda, nothing special.

Wasn't there a Fruit Punch flavor? My high school used to have those at the soda machine. I drank it a lot.

Edit: Never mind. I was thinking of something else. I, surprisingly, don't remember Minute Maid sodas.

We used to by the Minute Maid orange all the time. I didn't realize they stopped making it.

Burger King down here has Minute Maid orange still on fountain, it's way too carbonated for my liking tho but mixes well with coke.

That was a really good soda. I recently found an unopened can of it. I hate that Coke only has Fanta now. That soda tastes really watered down and the song in those movie ads was really annoying.
Recipe for nostalgia: Mix 80's and 90's culture. Stir in some good memories. Add a dash of reflection. Mixture should now taste bittersweet. Shake well and enjoy!
