Now that we covered all the major film series you knew this one was coming, here's how I rank em.

1) Rocky IV- The best fight of the series, excellent soundtrack from Vince "Transformers the Movie" Di Cola and all sorts of other 80's goodness moments here.

2) Rocky - American movie classic! ripped off countless times but the original never gets old.

3) Rocky III-Eye of the Tiger, Hulk Hogan, and Mr. T what's not to love?

4) Rocky II- Really just a remake of the first one.

5) Rocky V- an embarassment and one of the most depressing sequels ever made.

By the way if anyone here has the power by all that's holy on this earth STOP Mr. Stallone from making Rocky VI! I mean a Harrison Ford as 60 year old archaeologist is somewhat believable in that he's a lifelong adventurer but a 60 year old boxer!!! who the hell would license him?

What's yours?

Rocky IV no doubt in my mind is the best out of the series . I remember going to see that when I was 5 it was great. One of the most shocking things I have ever seen was when Apollo died. That is the first time and the only time I can remember the audience standing up at the end and clapping because Rocky won against incredible odds.It was like the USA beat USSR in the war which never happen ( Cold War). The soundtrack is the best I love the part when he is training in Russia those songs go through my head everyday especially "Hearts on Fire". Just a great movie all away around one of the best movies of the 80's.

It's followed by Rocky III, Rocky, RockyII, and that stupid Rocky IV I hate that movie and I hope that Rocky 6 isn't like that even though the series should have stopped at IV.

"even though the series should have stopped at IV"

I know, part of the fun was seeing Rocky triumph and slowly climb his way to the top of the social ladder but in V they took all that away from him and never resolved it.

Maybe in VI he'll finally get it back but it doesn't look that way now that his wife's dead and his son abandoded him (according to the treatment of Rocky VI).

Rocky - beats up a black guy
Rocky II - beats him up again
Rocky III - beats up the blackest guy
Rocky IV - original black guy gets killed by an even whiter guy

        Something I realised recently

Oh and Rocky V - as racist as the Final Solution and Birth of a Nation combined for being released onto every creed, colour and nation across the globe.

BTW has anyone actually seen stills from Rocky VI? - Rock's fucking gray! This is a man I wouldn't charge with eating a 1/4 pounder for fear of killing him. I fear i'll be watching this flick through my fingers.

PS- Rocky IV, great soundtrack, great fights, James Brown! Plus the most emotional moment in ANY Sly film- the death of Apollo! Cut out that fucking birthday robot and it equals the original in terms of classic status

the original rocky is by far the best, no question about it. not only did it win an oscar for best picture, but the story and writing, as well as the acting, in it is incredible. rocky IV, while not a bad movie, is nowhere near the best in the series. i mean seriously, the storyline is way too cheesy, and seemed, IMO to be almost a propaganda film until the end when the the american and the russian finally respected each other, i mean seriously, how cheesy can you get? i rank them 1, 2 or 4, 3, 5. the fifth one i agree is atrocious, but while i respect that people do like the fourth one, it has to be realized that the story and acting is NOWHERE NEAR that of the first movie. the first movie was not only original, but rocky LOSES in it. that to me was more shocking than apollo creed's death in rocky 4. the whole story of the first one has you believing that the underdog is going to rise up and beat the odds, and then he DOESN'T! and, it leaves you wanting more because in a way rocky felt cheated at the end of the first movie and sets up a phenomenal ending and setup for rocky 2. sorry for the long post, but this is a topic i have spent much time considering and am very passionate about.

My favorite Rocky? I'd say that Rocky & Bullwinkle was my favorite rocky movie.

...but then again, that goes to show you how much I really enjoyed the "other" Rocky movies.

I forgot Rocky and Bullwinkle, damn it!

Jape, are you serious they already started filming Rocky VI! I just thought it would die a slow and painful death in development like Indy 4.

Rocky "Freaking" VI is actually getting made, Seriously, is this not the worst decade for movies ever?
