Anyone remember this movie? I grew up going up to cottage country every summer.. And i still do every summer.
So alot of this movie really connected with me..
John Candy and Dan Akroyd..really played great roles in this movie.

yup. it's one of my DVDs I have.
I loved the Jetboat scene, the scene where Chet tried to eat the "Old 96'er", and the scene where Chet told the bear story by the fire. Classic!

The racoons were my favorite part. They were so funny :lol:
this was an awesome movie. it's one of john candy's best movies, although i dont think he was in too many bad movies. the bald bear or the big 96er steak are my favorite parts
I remember this movie, but never really got that into it

Was this the movie with John Candy that had the bat scene where one got loose in the cabin and flew around everywhere? I think that scene was stolen by Chris Farley for Tommy Boy, it's so similar.

Yup this is the movie, thats one of the funniest scenes in the movie..
I like this movie, but I prefer Trains, Planes, and Automobiles and Uncle Buck better. My favorite scene would have to be the old 96er too, especially the part when they're dragging the thing out of the freezer.

The Great Outdoors was a great movie, I also liked Planes, Trains and Automobiles.
I loved this when they found out about the bat:
Kate Craig: Ahh!
[Kate and Roman run out of their bedroom]
Roman: What?
Kate Craig: It touched me!
Roman: It's been touching you for 12 years, you never freaked!
Kate Craig: Not you!
[Kate hits Roman on the arm]
Kate Craig: A thing.
Roman: What thing?
Chet: [Comes out of his bedroom, along with the rest of the family, and turns on the lights] What's going on?
Kate Craig: That thing!
[Points to a bat]
Roman: Oh, it's just a little sparrow.
Kate Craig: C'mon Roman, it's got ears!
[Everyone screams and runs out of the cabin]
and the infamous "Go find yourself a "spin cycle"!"
