Who remembers this old store? Did it just go out of business or did it merge with another company? I had so many memories of going to that store. It may have existed only on the west coast.
Thats it man , Game Over man ,

I was to little to remember shopping there, but my mom did. She bought me baby clothes there.

I have only very vague memories of being in the actual store, but very vivid ones of going into the entrance to Zodys. The walls to the entrance of our store were covered in that horribly gaudy, sparkly, accoustic popcorn stuff (like you sometimes see on older ceilings)...with gold glitter. I'm sure I would find it appallingly ugly now, but to my three/four-year old eyes it was like stepping into what I pictured a gold mine looking like, and I thought it was beautiful beyond compare. I think I'd seen Snow White and the bit with the dwarves' mine probably encouraged that impression.

It was, however, located entirely too close to the scarry pirate place (aka Long John Silver's restaurant).

I worked as a payroll accountant at the corporate headquarters of Zody's (called HRT Industries) from 1981 until they dissolved on Dec 31, 1986. I was literally one of the last 3 employees. The remaining assets were sold to a Pennsylvania company that specialized in liquidating failed businesses. The actual store locations had been closed some months prior to the end of 1986. The company also had run chains called Hartfield's clothing, Karl's Shoes, and Shoe Stop. Not a bad job, but the stores were total crap.
