Romper Room was a children's show from the late 80's (maybe ran into the 90's).
They used to have a different group of children on each show and they used to play games with the host (a woman).
I THINK it aired on channel 9 in the New York area. (not positive on that).

Any help would be great.

And I am honered to be a new member of this site. It's fantastic and I can now relive my childhood more than I ever thought.

I remember having a book or coloring book of this show, but I had never seen it before. I don't think it aired here...

I watched it as a kid, but I was very little and don't remember much about it. I know that, at the end of each show, the host lady would look into some sort of magical looking glass and list of all the names of the children at home she could "see" ("I see Marcy and Jan and Steve and Kyle and . . ." etc.). My sister would get mad because the lady would never say her name. (She wouldn't say mine, either, but I've got a weird name, so I was used to that sort of thing.)

I vaguely remember there being a person-sized puppet on the show, a sort of grandmotherly figure, possibly a cat. The host would visit her every now and again.

Man, I most surely do. Especially this: Romper Bomper, Stomper Boo. Tell me, tell me, tell me, who. Magic Mirror, tell me today, did all my friends have fun at play? The host would hold up a play mirror over her face, recite the rhyme, we see a little rainbow visual effect, then we go back to her with the middle of the mirror taken out, and she would recite a list of everyone there, including Paddigton Bear.

It should be of some note that up to 1981 or so, Romper Room in the US was a franchised program that was syndicated to local stations in the country, where each station had it's own "Miss Nancy" or "Miss Sally" or such, and they would hold a "Romper Room School" that lasted an hour or so a day, with a group of pre-schoolers who would appear on the set while the show was broadcast live.

The show was originally created by Burt and Nancy Claster in the 1950's from a station in Baltimore, and was later adapted into a national project where individual stations elsewhere would produce their local Romper Room's (simular to what was done with Bozo the Clown). and had female teachers that had to be certifed by the Clasters to host the show. The show would go on to be franchised to other foreign markets like Canada, the UK and Japan.

In the early '80s, most TV stations in the country dropped their local Romper Room's and a syndicated "Romper Room & Friends" was syndicated by Claster Television, hosted by a former host from New York. This series was repeated through the 80's. This is the Rompe Room I'm a bit more aware of in my youth, though Toledo used to had it's own Romper Room show in the past that was first produced by WTOL-TV11 in the 50's and '60s, and by WDHO-TV24 (now WNWO-TV) in the 70's.

I remember the Australian version, which I beleived aired nationally until sometime in about 1987, when it was taken off the Sydney based channels, but still continued to air on Central Coast tv until the mid 90's. As my younger half sister (who lived in the Central Coast) was obsessed by the show and she had all the different accessories.

My dads current girlfriends, daughters were on the Sydney based show.

I remember watching the national version when I was young in the early 80's, and the children would hold poles and do the bend and stretch reach up for the sky song. The children would also have a snack and a drink of milk out of white mr doo-bee cups. They also used to walk around with bean bags on their heads

It was my favourite show, along with Humphrey B Bear when I was a preschooler.
