Which children's cable station did you watch and
enjoy the most when you were a child? I actually
constantly watched the programs of all three networks.

Nickelodeon:
(1997-2003)Nickelodeon was actually the first cable network
I watched when my family first got the Direct-TV satellite
system back in 1997(before that the only chances to watch
cartoons for me were Kids WB and PBS programs like Arthur.)
I watched Rugrats,Doug,Hey Arnold,Aah Real Monsters!,Rocko's
Modern Life,Spongebob, and live action shows like Keenan & Kel and All That.

It wasn't until 2004 when I grew bored of Nickelodeon and switched completely to Cartoon Network.

Cartoon Network:
(1997/1998?-2005)Cartoon Network is,was, and always will be
my favorite television network.I first started watching programs like Swat Kats,Cow & Chicken, and 2 Stupid Dogs after kindergarten until moving on watching Cartoon Network
Fridays a year later (Ed,Edd n Eddy and Johnny Bravo were
my favorites of the line-up.)

Until 2004,I divided most of my television watching between
Nick and CN. It was June 2004 on a trip to my grandparent's
house in Oklahoma when I first discovered "The City Era"
bumpers on the TV in our motel room. I renounced Nick and
devote all my TV time to Cartoon Network until summer 2005
when we have to give up Satellite to move to our short lived
move to Arizona.

Disney Channel:(1998-2004) This is my least watched of the
network and there's not much to say. Mostly The New Adventures of Winnie The Pooh and Playhouse Disney until
moving on to more "big kid" shows like Kim Possible,Even
Stevens,House of Mouse, and Lizzie MacGuire. I also loved
the "Disney Channel Original Movies" like Up,Up,And Away
when I was young.

It was 2004 when I grew bored of the network and pretty
much stopped watching it. It was also right before it
switched to "tween" programing so I dodged a bullet there.

Cartoon Network was always my favorite channel. When I first got cable I was about 5 or 6 years old, (1994-95) Nick didn't really have shows that appealed to me. I was quite used to watching old Hanna-Barbera cartoons that my mom grew up watching. I preferred it over shows like Clarissa Explains It All and Pete & Pete. As far as the Disney Channel goes, I didn't notice it until I got older.

Cartoon Network always gave me new shows like Johnny Bravo, Cow and Chicken, Dexter's Lab, and my fav, Space Ghost Coast to Coast. I didn't really get into Nick until 3rd or 4th grade. I remember watching Doug at 7:00, then Rugrats at 7:30, then switching over to Cartoon Network. I also enjoyed All That.

Nick, plain & simple. It was the only one of the 3 avialable at the time (back in the 80s). CN didn't even exist when I was a kid, and the disney channel was some ridiculous ammount ($10 or $15, I think) per month, in addition to the normal cable fees, so it wasn't even a consideration.

In the 90s CN was quite good, and nick and fallen into the gutter, so by the time I was in my teens/20s, my preference had switched to CN.

Disney only became "free" around here in the past 5 years or so (while it had apparently been "free" elsewhere for a long time, the cable companies around here are money-grubbing pricks). Unfortunately, by the time it was finally available without paying unreasonable fees, they had removed everything decent from their schedule.
I remember when the cable company would have free previews of disney channel in the 90s, and it had the classic disney shorts, reruns of the snoopy cartoon series, and reruns of fraggle rock. By the time it became "free", it was nothing but crappy live action shows, mostly aimed at girls.

If I had to choose an all-time fav between nick & CN, it'd be very difficult. Nick was fantastic in the 80s, but then began to fade. CN meanwhile was fantastic in the 90s, then faded to crap. I think I'd probably lean more towards nick, because it has a stronger nostalgic feel to it (watching some old nick show takes me right back to what I was doing, the world I was living in, etc, at the time when I watched it originally, in addition to the enjoyment of revisiting a fav show. Watching an old CN show on the other hand only gives me the enjoyment of revisiting an old fav show), but it's a close call.

Back when I was a kid, nick's primary competitor was the USA network. While that seems strange today, back in the 80s the USA network had "cartoon express", which showed an hour of old H/B cartoons every weekday, and several hours every sunday morning.

Where I lived, I didn't have any of those.
I did enjoy Cartoon Network and Nickelodeon when I travelled down to the states. As for Disney Channel, I never really got any shows from it where I lived. I only saw it when I was in Florida in 2004 and I never really cared for it.

In the early 1990's The Disney Channel was my number 1 favorite channel. In 2002, I stoped watching The Disney Channel because, they took away Vault Disney.

Cartoon Network by far, but I'm talking about the early CN (1992-1995). I loved the old cartoon classic like Tom & Jerry, Merrie Melodies, Avery's shorts, The Herculoids, Flintstones, Popeye, etc.

Out of the three you mentioned, Nickelodeon was the only one around when I was kid. On Saturday mornings, I would usually watch cartoons on NBC, or USA.

                  Back then I enjoyed watching Nickelodeon. Some of my 80's favorites were;

*You Can't Do That on Television
                  *Pinwheel
                  *Today's Special
                  *Inspector Gadget
                  *Mr. Wizard
                  *Belle and Sebastian
                  *Adventures of Little Koala
                  *Mysterious Cites of Gold

I'd have to say Cartoon Network, though I like Nick ok. CN had powerpuff girls, Dexter's Lab and Ed, Edd and Eddy!

You forgot YTV, it's probably one of those most famous and legendary stations for kids of all time. I mainly watched YTV, Kids WB, CBS, ABC before they stopped being cartoon channels in the 80's. I'm guessing you were born in the late 80's or 90's? lol. If you've never seen shows from YTV like Freaky Stories, Rugrats, Bump In The Night, The Zone, Uh Oh you really should check them out!

Not too mention YTV had the BEST LINE UPS! Like DARK NIGHT! They actually had HOSTS in between shows and like every commercial break and they were actually cool and fun like Phil, here's one of the commercials breaks

                                  http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-S9wv09c2hc

It was best right up until about 2003 then it sucked out loud. Its still on but sucks, same as everything these days I guess though.

                                        move to Arizona.

As for those channels though I guess I would pick Cartoon Network over the other 2. Then Nick, although I found the comedy cheap and the station itself a knock off of YTV or Kids WB or other channels with hosts and skits and line ups. Last is Disney since I didn't have much experience watching it growing up and the times I did I only enjoyed a couple of shows and found they didn't have much excitement added to their station....I more or less just watched CBS' line up for kids growing up in the 80's and 90's and ABC as well. Later on Kids WB and always YTV.
