This past weekend on CN they showed a Scooby Doo marathon...I was for one thrilled...I watched a couple episodes like Hassle in the Castle etc. It made me think about how great a cartoon Scooby Doo was...I was disapointed however because they did not show any of "The New Scooby Doo Movies" seasons...I always liked those ones. They had an awesome theme and who can resist Don Knotts in animated form?

While I didn't hate any of the direct to video Scooby Doo films per se, I much prefer the original series.

I loved the first season cause they had really bad/good 70's songs included in the "chase" scenes.

I think the original early 70's series Scooby Doo Where Are You was the best Scooby Doo series. But I think the direct to DVD movies of the last decade and the early 00 WB series were more true to the original series, than those mid 70's to mid 80's series. And anything without the annying Scrappy Doo is a plus.

The one mystery is never sholved in the original series, where was the laughing coming from? LOL

I am a born again Scooby fan, and I am getting the original series on DVD.

But I don't like any Scooby movie or episode of series in which the monsters or ghosts are real. They have to be people in masks, the point of the original show is to tell kids monsters and ghosts, etc. are not real. When they are real, it loses its original purpose. I remember the later series in the early 80's Fred, Daphne, and Velma were not in the cast. What is up with that?

no daphne was in the cast sometimes...but fred and velma were ex-nayed (sp?) i like all the different spin offs personally until the movies they started coming out with in the late 90s with "real" monsters...and then they made scooby CGI which killed all hope of redemtion. now all i can do is watch the retro stuff

I always jokingly thought that Fred, Daphne, and Velma left because they couldn't stand Scrappy Doo as much as we couldn't stand him. LOL

Scooby Doo Where Are You! very underrated in its role in the history of Hanna Barabara. In the late 60's Hanna Barbara had lost a lot its momentum it had earlier in the decade. Scooby Doo Where Are You! put HB back on the cartoon map, and stayed there till the mid 80's.
