First, can anyone tell me the name of this movie?

It's Australian, I think. There is a man who is very good at pool (or some such game) and he makes his money from it. He has a son who he is struggling to support (or win the respect of? I can't remember). Anyway, the juicy part is that he enters these competitions where they place something like a white domino in the middle of the table and if you knock it over you get your finger cut off. In the end he really needs to win so the 'twist' is that he dpulls a trick shot to knock the domino thingy right off the table, gets his finger lopped, but continues the clean up (since he no longer needs to fear hitting the domino again).

If anybody knows the name of this film, please let me know.


Furthermore, does anybody know any other good films themed on pool, snooker, 9-ball, billiards, etc? I loved Poolhall Junkies (mainly for Christopher Walken's 'bring you down to size' speech right near the end), but I can't think of any other such movies. I vaguely remember Tom Cruise playing pool a lot in a movie, but that's it. Any help? Anyone...?

I don't know the name of the Australian film you're talking about, but the Tom Cruise movie is called "The Color Of Money", it's a sequel to another great pool hustling movie from 1961 called "The Hustler". Paul Newman is in both films.

Just because nobody knows the name of an apparently obscure Australian film doesn't mean anybody here has "lost their touch". And you say "these days" as if you have been around forever, while your post count shows 23. And your attempt at taunting people into thinking they've "lost their touch" is just stupid. If you want to know that badly, do some research, because apparently nobody here has seen your movie. And if they have they might not respond to silly taunts like that.

Of course another name for pool could be "Billiards".
