I miss watching The Disney Channel back in the early 1990's. The Disney Channel used to have no commercials. The Disney Channel used to have non disney movies like StarWars, Planet of the Apes, The Last Starfighter, The Gonnies, D.A.R.Y.L, Funny Farm and The Explores. The Disney Channel used to have three parts like the kids had Lunch Box!, the teens had shows like The New Mickey Mouse Club and Kids Incorporated. The adults had Vault Disney at night. The reason why The Disney Channel is different now is because they got kids shows on 24 hours a day. The reason why The Disney Channel is popular now because everybody have it. Why? Its part of basic cable. Back in the early 1990's, they only way to have The Disney Channel is have a cable box. If anybody feels the same way as I do, please sign a petition on yahoo or email The Disney Channel about it.

I miss the old Disney Channel! I don't understand why they don't have a classic channel or at least show the original cartoons anymore? I guess they think that kids are so dumb nowadays that all they will watch is the garbage animation that plays daily...or that they'll get bored with cartoons that are decades old. Mind you back in the 80's and 90's we saw the old Disney cartoons which were 30-40yrs old at the time, and still enjoyed them.

I do to miss the old Disney Channel. My cousin who never had cable before actually thought that the Disney Channel now was only new. Uh... no. Kids are getting exposed to negative role models like Hannah Montana, Jonas Brothers, High School Musical that they forget about Mickey Mouse, Donald Duck and Goofy. All those great shows that Disney use to show, even the non-Disney ones, are long forgotten by the Disney Channel but remembered by viewers like us. And with it being October, I now think back to those great Halloween specials that Disney use to show and advertised by Russi Taylor doing some sort of witchy voice. How I miss my days as a kid.
They may as well call it "Teen Disney".

Disney channel's definitely gone down hill. It's sad, the only Disney branded show I see is some educational kid's programming, Mickey Mouse's Club House. The rest? More stuff, following the Dora the Explorer formula. And tween stuff...Bring back some of the old short cartoons, bring back the animation Disney Channel was known for. Now, they have only 1 animated cartoon, Phineas and Pherb. Back then, they had far too many to count. Ok, I'm done with my Disney rant.
I remember when the Disney channel first premiered in the 80's and they showed a lot of old school Mickey Mouse toons and had the animated mickey bumpers..

DTV, Donald Duck Presents, and no stupid TV shows. I remember they even showed Daryl Hannah's tits in Splash after 10 o'clock.
I remember when you had to pay, I never got to see the Disney channel when I was younger, only place I could see it was at my grandmother's summer bungalow and it was there I finally got to see some of the great shows I was missing out on. And it was great to see re-runs of Jim Henson's Dinosaurs.
I tell you I wish I got to see more of the old Disney channel back in the 90's...before they added Lizzie McGuire...Zack and Cody...That's So Raven and the devil's spawn themselves (The Jonas Bros/Hannah Montanna) and the channel went to Hell.

I had the original Disney on Cable, back when it was a premium channel... this was in the mid 80s.
Back then it seemed liked Disney and HBO were the only two premium channels available.

What do you think? If we didn't remember stuff like these, then we wouldn't be on Retrojunk, now would we?
And of course, with no surprise, this thread is turning out to be another crappy "Disney Channel sux now" thread, as if we don't already have too many of those.
Also, I have a quick newsflash to janhall47: Petitions do not work, so no I'm not going to sign your petition to bring back the old Disney Channel. Even if someone here is going to want to sign your petition... well... where is it? I don't see a link to your little petition, so how's anybody going to sign it if they don't even have a link to it.

I loved the Disney Channel when they didn't show commercials for their other shows every 5 minutes. Just like other channels. At the end of a show, the show isn't always over. Often times, they'll have another minute or so during the credits. But they'll squish the picture down just to advertise another crappy show. I really think that they can wait a minute for the show to finish. It's especially annoying when the show's end is bloopers that don't get to get finished.
Man...you have no idea how much I miss old school Disney...I went on youtube a couple months ago..basically looking at the old disney bumpers...that always shows mickey mouse head...like here a few examples:

I remember having the Disney Channel probably in the mid 80s. We had one if those gigantic yard satalite dishes. You could hear it moving outside when you changed the station.
I remember when I was in 7th grade in '93 Adventures In Wonderland coming on right before I had to get on the bus. Back then we didn't each have our own receiver box like alot of kids seem to have these days. All the tvs were connected to the main box in the living room. So i'd have to argue with my dad when I wanted to watch Avonlea on Disney and he wanted to watch Wrestling LOL
