I watched this movie last week on Netflix for the first time since the 80s. If for no other reason you should watch it for a good depletion of the early 80s. After watching it I had the Galaxy Glue song stuck in my head for two days. lol

Here is the first 10 minutes of the movie. OMG I remember these clothing styles.

This movie was a great commentary on consumerism. Lily Tomlin is a classic comedic actress. And yeah, the clothing back in the early 80's, really shows how much people wear 'label' clothing.

Yes Lily Tomlin is great. While I generally don't like feminist movies, I liked her as well in 9 to 5 which she made just before this movie.

That style of shorts and long tube socks you see the younger people wearing was inspired by the basketball players of that time. The popularity of the sport really took off in the mid 70s after the ABA-NBA merger and young people particularly athletic ones wanted to dress like the players. The same thing happened in the 90s. Thank God that style was all but gone by the mid 80s.
