I was standing talking to one of my employees today, and we were talking about food we ate growing up. I thought it would be an interesting topic for a forum. I can still remember sundays at my great aunt's house after church. We would have pot roast, potatos, turnip greens, black-eyed peas, cornbread, and sweet tea. I can almost taste it. How about you, what are some of your food memories that bring back childhood?
Are you ready for a report card????

Steak-Ums, my mom use to fix that for me all the time. No wonder why I got fat in my pre-teen years.

Besides that, Hardee's twist cones and of course random fast food kids meals.

Me and my mom used to go to Taco Bell and get these weird Italian ice things there, that you squeezed up from a cardboard tube, they were so yummy and Taco bell doesn't have them anymore.

Fruity Pebblels, Candy Canes, Shelled Peanuts, and Stag Chili. Each one of those has a special meaning to me from when I was a little kid.

Bug City, the candy. I used to always go to a Diamond Shamrock nearby us to get a jar of those hard and tangy insect shaped candies.

Chocolate soldiers. The drink was a rare treat for me to get as a child. Now I can see that they were just like yoohoo's. Just chocolate water. Looking back now, they were kind of nasty, lol.

I wish I knew exactly what food made my kindergarten (or preschool, I forget :( ) room smell like it did. I smell that smell sometimes and its like "woah this smells just like my kindergarten class", its a very specific smell and I wish I knew what is was!

Fish sticks, party pizza (the squared kind), and certainly BK Burgers, particularly their Double Cheeseburger, which remind me of the dearly departed Burger Buddies.

Amazin Fruit gummi candies, Ecto cooler, Oreo Os, Fruit Loops, Fruit Roll-ups, Starburst popsicles, red white and blue rocket popsicles, chocolate chip cookies, frozen pizza, baloney sandwiches, PB crisps, pineapple juice, Dunkaroos, grilled cheese, and grape juice.

Wow, most of that stuff isn't the greatest for you. Good thing I had so much energy as a kid because if I didn't, I'd probably be so fat by now.
Recipe for nostalgia: Mix 80's and 90's culture. Stir in some good memories. Add a dash of reflection. Mixture should now taste bittersweet. Shake well and enjoy!

Freezepops and pushpops, cocoa Crispies, macaroni and cheese, and those packages with the crackers sticks you would dunk in that gelatinous cheese. I don't know why I ate those.
