I've never downloaded any of the RiffTrax that Mike and his buddies from MST3K do. I know Joel has a spin off also. Are they as funny as they used to be?

That's a tough one to talk about...

MST3K is one of the greatest and funniest shows of all time.

There are 3 offshoots of MST3K:
    1. Rifftrax- Is headed by Mike Nelson, Kevin Murphy, and Bill Corbett

    2. Film Crew- Is also Mike Nelson, Kevin, and Bill.

    3. Cinematic Titanic- Is Joel Hodgson, Trace Beaulieu, J. Elvis Weinstein, Frank Conniff, and Mary Jo Pehl.

As for the details and which is best:

1.Riff Trax is my least favorite, there are just too many lulls in jokes delivery. The movies are newer and bad, instead of old and bad.

    2. The Film Crew has 4 releases, a similar plot of 3 guys riffing on movies for work.

3.Cinematic Titanic has 5 releases, another in two days, and another in production.

There are flaws with each of the 3, but they are still great.

I've watched the trailers for all of Film Crew, and Cinematic Titanic. It practically comes down to the old rift: which host you prefer, Joel or Mike.

Cinematic Titanic seems a hell of a lot closer to MST3K's greatness. So, I'd suggest Cinematic Titanic, followed by Film Crew, then Rifftrax.

I think I'm just going to stick with MST3K.

There you go! There's 199 episodes, the movie, and about 20 public access episodes before they were picked up.

They're not all on dvd but they are all online. I've got them all.

I have all the DVD sets. Some episodes are funny, while some are just okay. I'd love to know who picks the episodes for the DVD's. I even have the set where they make fun of of Godzilla vs Megalon before Toho got pissed and had them get rid of it and replace it with a different movie.

If I had the capability to use an iPod and those MP3s, I might try giving the RiffTrax guys a go, but then again, I don't know if it would be the same. I say that because I prefer to do my own MSTing when watching a movie. "Independence Day" was on TBS on Sunday, and I was joking like you wouldn't believe. When Will Smith's character remarked about a spaceship, I broke into a few bars of the theme to "Fresh Prince Of Bel-Air". When Bill Pullman's character appeared on-screen, "Spaceballs" references came about. When Randy Quaid's character appeared, I started quoting the "Vacation" movies.

I don't know if it would be the same with RiffTrax, but as I read about the other spin-offs, I feel like maybe it isn't worth it to go with any of them. They need to all get back together instead of working apart.

Is there any bad blood between the various factions or anything?

I would say stick with MST3K (official releases and downloads), Cinema Titanic and The Film Crew.

Rifftrax Mike, Kevin and Bill seem to follow the Rifftrax Message Board rather then their own sense of humor also I don't like them making fun of good and classic films. Why make fun of Star Wars: A New Hope, Lord of the Rings, Raiders of the Lost Ark, Iron Man or The Dark Knight when there are so many films like Super Mario Bros, Double Dragon, Street Fighter, Jaws: The Revenge ,and I could go on, exist.

For finding more episodes of MST3K I would suggest this site: http://www.castleforrester.com/

I would also suggest getting any of the Rhino owned DVD box sets or single DVD releases due to them loosing the distribution rights to SHOUT Factory.

The Film Crew DVD's should be ready and available at most stores and you download or buy Cinematic Titanic episodes at their site.

I prefer Mystery Science Theater 3000 all the way. I have two of the box set DVDs as well as The Essentials and The Movie on DVD. Rifftrax is okay, but the movies they do are too recent and not really funny.
