In 1989, following the success of Who Framed Roger Rabbit the year before (1988), Steven Spielberg founded the Amblimation studio in London, England. The studio eventually closed down in 1997, after leaving behind three films (1991's An American Tail: Fievel Goes West, 1993's We're Back! A Dinosaur's Story, and 1995's Balto) and many unrealized projects (including an animated musical version of Cats).
