Elizabeth Berkley

Biography

Elizabeth Berkley was born in Michigan in 1972. She was a gifted dancer from a young age and often appeared in stage musicals. She started off by making guest appearances on shows like "Silver Spoons" and "Day By Day" before joining the cast of "Saved By The Bell", the re-tooled version of the short-lived sitcom "Good Morning, Miss Bliss". She was originally up for the role of Kelly Kapowski, but Tiffani-Amber Thiessen got it instead. She made enough of an impression, though, that the character of the brainy Jessie Spano was created for her. She continued making guest appearances on other shows while on "Saved By The Bell". In 1995, she played the role of Nomi Malone in the critically-savaged box-office disaster "Showgirls", which has managed to become a cult favorite and one of MGM's highest-selling DVD titles in recent years. This slowed down her acting career for a while, but she found success in independent movies. When not acting, she's in charge of a program called "Ask Elizabeth", which empowers young girls in bad situations through school visits and Q&A sessions at those visits. She's definitely done a lot of things and done them well...Even "Showgirls" (Yes, I liked that movie!).
