Released: 1951 A flying saucer lands in Washington D.C. with a visitor named Klaatu, He brings a message of peace but he is shot by a soldier when he pulls out a device that appeared treating. The solders soon learn that Klaatu is not alone as he has brought a robot named Gort with him. As Klaatu recovers in the hospital he requests that the leaders of the world be brought together for his message. He is instead told it is impossible and that he is under custody. Klaatu escapes and hides in a boarding house, learning about humanity along with trying to share his message to the world under constant hunt by the U.S. Government.
Directed by Robert Wise and music by Bernard Herrmann.
The science fiction classic was added to the National Film Registry and voted by the American Film Institute (AFI) as the 5th best science fiction film of all time.
