Generation X

Movie Summary

Released: 1996
Students at Xavier's School for Gifted Youngsters battle a mad scientist (Matt Frewer), who's discovered a way to travel into other people's dreams, in this made-for-TV spin-off of the popular X-Men comics. The film served as the pilot for a TV series, but it debuted before the late '90s superhero craze to miniscule ratings. Many fans of the comic book were disappointed with this adaption -- in particular, the fact that Jubilation Lee (Heather McComb) was not Asian, as she had been in print.

At the time I really enjoyed it, when I was into the paranormal abilities. And there was something about seeing one of the teens reveal her muscled back, whoa. And I'm not gay by any means.

Wow that movie was cheeseball. Fox must have spent like $25 on it

OK, that could've been a sweet series, but the pilot/movie was hoaky. Lets see... where did they go wrong?

Well, Jubilee not asian was like.. whatever. Honestly, I thought the person playing Jubilee did it well. Especially when you consider the X-Men cartoon series of the day didn't have her very asian looking either.

Buff should've been Husk. (Loved some of the things done with Husk in the comic. Especially when M-Plate tore her apart, and her metallic skin started to show. When that happenned, you always knew she was going to kick some butt.

Refrax should've been Chamber. Although, I didn't care for Chamber that much, still, he was a better developed character than the Cyclops clone.

Where's Penny? She was awesome in the comics. Just oblivious to the world around her, but when fighting, even Wolverine would have to take a time out to heal from the slightest touch (her skin was razor sharp, any where you touched her, so she wore a leather straight jacket at all times).

I was a fan of the Gen X comic, so for me... those were the key points. Other than that, Emma Frost and Banshee were cool teachers to have in the school. And they made a couple references to Xavier which showed a good tie-in (IMO).

Banshee, Jubilee and Emma were great, but the rest of the acting was terrible. But so bad it's good. Also, I actually saw the girl who played M (Amarilis) at my cousin's gymnastic competition right after the movie came out, but didn't have the guts to tell her the movie sucked. I'm a wuss.
