National Football League Draft
Debut: April 29, 1980

Once a year in late April, the National Football League holds one of its most important events: the big meeting where the league's teams select the best of the best college players to move on to the pros! The first draft was held in 1936. In 1980, just months after going on air, fledgling network ESPN televised the draft for the first time. Starting in 2010 it has aired across three days. The first day encompassing the first round is on Thursday night. Rounds two and three air on Friday night, and the remaining four air on Saturday. In 2018 Fox aired the first two nights of the draft, then ABC has aired all three days since 2019.
